Los Angeles City Council member Paul Krekorian joined Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office, members of the community and the Ford Motor Company on Monday morning to lead a volunteer effort to plant native trees and clean up Los Angeles Greenway River Park.
Krekorian has long been a supporter of public access along the Los Angeles River which snakes through Studio City and his district in the San Fernando Valley.
"This is one of the most important green areas in the city, and we have to preserve it," Krekorian has said.
Volunteers picked up leaves and trash (and a bike frame) cleaning out many bags of debris along the Ventura Boulevard-adjacent park.
For more information about the area, go to Save L.A. River Open Space at savelariveropenspace.org and another group involved in planting in the area is the Studio City Beautification Association at http://www.studiocityresidents.org/associations/studio-city-beautification-association.html
