When Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' hit the internet, controversy soon ensued. Paul Anka as it turns out, was a co-writer, and he wanted an apology from the Jackson estate, because they didn't "properly acknowledge him as a co-writer. Anka reportedly told John McClain (executor of MJ's estate), "It's fine if it's an honest mistake. These things happen."
On the ABC hit morning show, 'The View,' Paul Anka appeared on the Hot Topics segment of today's show and discussed the incident, saying everything has been resolved. Anka told the ladies of 'The View,' "Everything has been sorted out. The right thing was done - everybody is happy. It was absolutely an honest mistake - we have to remember that." When asked how the collaboration between himself and Michael Jackson took place, Anka revealed, "A friend brought us together in 1980 when I was doing my album. I had Michael MacDonald and Kenny Loggins and a group of others, and Michael wanted to work on the album with me. We had two songs that we were going to work on and finish for the album."

Paul Ankas name is NOT on the copyright of Michael Jacksons This Is It which was created in 1980 and copyright in 1984.
I think what happens was that Jackson took the demo to Paul Anka, they changed the title and lyrics, and filed I never heard copyright in 1991. You can find this title in copyright search also.
But the song This is It was
Could you tell me the rest of what he said? I live outside of the US, and I couldn't watch the video...
I don't believe and never did believe that Paul Anker had anything to do with that song. Michael did not need Paul Ander to write a song with him.
I hope the truth comes out soon.
