Atlantans take their holiday celebrations very seriously. This is particularly true of patriotic observances – like the Fourth of July – where the entire nation celebrates its independence. Some might argue that Atlanta just does it a little louder and prouder. In addition to main street celebrations throughout the state – such as the Cumming July Fourth Celebration and Parade or Marietta’s Fourth in the Park – Metro Atlanta will play host to a number of highly notable commemorations and patriotic pastimes to make this Fourth of July among the most memorable to date.
Downtown Atlanta: The Fourth of July in the City of Atlanta is a long-standing tradition for many Southerners. As host to the AJC Peachtree Road Race early in the day of the Fourth, Atlanta runners and their fans have a tendency to get the party started early and keep it going until after dark. Some of the Fourth of July activities taking part in Downtown Atlanta during the holiday weekend include the 4th of July All American Fireworks Spectacular at Turner Field following Friday’s Braves game against the Arizona Diamondbacks; Red, White and Brew celebration at The Georgia Aquarium – complete with barbecue, live music, beer sampling and fireworks; and open air concert and fireworks set against the Atlanta skyline during Centennial Olympic Park’s 4th of July Celebration.
Buckhead/Midtown: Home to one of Atlanta’s most famed Fourth celebrations, Buckhead will once again play host to Lenox Square’s 55th Annual Legendary 4th of July Festivities – which is comprised of talent search, musical entertainment, food concessions and one of the largest fireworks displays in the Southeast. Guests who arrive earlier in the day can while away a few hours exploring the sprawling newly renovated mall. For those who want a slightly different perspective of the fireworks display over Lenox – W Atlanta Buckhead will host Red, White and Whiskey Blue at the hotel’s flagship bar. The 21+ evening will consist of signature cocktails, gourmet bites, DJ’s Rimby and Verse spinning tunes, and spectacular views from outdoor patios along the rooftop.
