Patric Hornqvist, out of the Nashville Predators lineup since sustaining a knee injury in Nashville’s January 26th road game in Anaheim, resumed skating on his own this week.
Against the Ducks, Hornqvist became entangled with Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf, and Getzlaf fell on Hornqvist’s left knee. Hornqvist was diagnosed with a knee sprain and the team announced at the time that he would be out of the lineup for at least three weeks. The knee injury came one shift after Hornqvist was struck in the right thigh by a slap shot off the stick of Nashville captain Shea Weber.
Following Wednesday’s practice session at Centennial Sportsplex, head coach Barry Trotz had some good news about Hornqvist’s progress.
“He has skated; I think this is day three of skating,” Trotz said. “We are hoping that we get through the week and he will probably maybe join the group after that. He’s skating and anytime a player is skating, that’s good. Once he joins the group, then it is probably a five-to seven day period.”
In five games this season, the Sollentuna, Sweden native has one goal and three assists. Hornqvist has put an impressive 16 shots on goal this season.
