For many Southern Californians a typical New Year's Day tradition is either spent watching the Pasadena Rose Parade, the Rose Bowl Game or nursing a hangover—while the rest of Southern California choose to head for the beach to enjoy the pleasant weather conditions that began the new year of 2014.
For many who happened to be at Venice Beach on New Years Day, they may have observed a well-known Reggae music artist, Pato Banton at work shooting a music video of his newest single, "Love is the Greatest Thing".
With the assistance of singer and fiancé Antoinette and a group of invited guests taking part in the video, the shoot began around noon at Muscle Beach with everyone singing, "Oh Love—sweet Love—is the greatest thing in the world."
The music video was shot in various locations of Venice Beach with the final shoot taking place under a giant steel sculpture on the main beach with everyone dancing, singing and waving a colorful Bob Marley flag.
The shoot ended around 2:15 in the afternoon with everyone singing a Birthday song to Antoinette—followed with a late afternoon/early evening Birthday Bash that was held at the rooftop of the Erwin building along Venice Beach.
"Pato is one of the nicest and most spiritual persons I have ever met", says long-time friend and retired engineer Norman Ingram of Whittier.
"I met Pato back in Birmingham, England in 1994 when he was giving a European studies group and we have been friends ever since."
Pato Banton and his music is very spiritual and sends a message on the 'Concept of Love and Tolerance, Classicism and Religion' with a smooth reggae beat.
