Patch 5.2 - Buy the Farm

Patch 5.2 brings World of Warcraft players new quests, new world bosses, new raids and it also brings the opportunity to buy your own little slice of Pandaria. Sunsong Ranch can now become your own safe haven from quests, raids and the occasional pvp that visiting Halfhill can bring.

Once you have become exalted with the Tillers and have all sixteen farm plots unlocked, you will be able to obtain the quest to acquire the farm from Farmer Yoon. On completion of the quest, the farmhouse will become a rest point, like an inn, where you may bind and instantly log out. No more worries of being ganked immediately upon log in, farmers.

Once ownership of the farm is in your hands, work orders will begin to come in from factions across Pandaria. Completing these work orders will earn a reputation boost with the issuing faction, so yet another way to get those reputations climbing.

Other farm changes brought with patch 5.2 include seeds that allow the planting of crops four plots at a time. Yoon’s Mailbox has had a name change and will now be known as Sunsong Ranch Mailbox. Special crops will now yield more, making them more competitive with gathering items throughout Pandaria. If you have a master plow, now running it across underground virmen will cause them to pop out of the ground at thirty percent less health and be stunned. Wild crops will now appear less often.

If you are worried about what might happen to poor Farmer Yoon, there is a surprise in store. No need to worry about putting him out in the cold as you take over the farm. He’s about to be offered a very cushy job of his own and possibly more to his suiting. So pick up the shovels and hoes and be ready to work the ground a little more for those reputation gains and a nice spot to call home.
