Pat Sajak used to host 'Wheel of Fortune' drunk (video)

Pat Sajak is certainly an American icon thanks in part to "Wheel of Fortune," but now we are hearing a rather surprising story about the early days of the show.

Speaking in a new interview on ESPN2 with Dan Le Batard, the longtime show host (and diehard sports fan) proclaimed that back when the show used to give away more prizes in the early days, he and co-host Vanna White filmed some shows more than a little bit inebriated:

"Vanna and I would ... have two or three or six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet. I had a great time. I have no idea if the shows were any good, but no one said anything, so I guess I did okay."

If you think this part of the interview is hilarious, check out the video to the left of this article -- as Pat talks openly about meeting Lucille Ball, what Vanna smells like, and how he doesn't keep track of anyone who is currently famous.
