Pat’s Peak Saturday Jan. 22 Big Air and sunny skies, Sunday Mascots

With another few inches of that fluffy stuff predicted for the remainder of this week, it looks like Pat’s Peak Ski Resort in Henniker, New Hampshire, will have beautiful weather and beautiful conditions for its Big Air Contest on Saturday and Mascot Day on Sunday.

Big Air for skiers/boarders and Viewers

Called the S&DUB Board Shop/CandyGrind Big Air Contest it is open to all comers and if you are into that sort of thing then be sure to sign up. This year two big air jumps have been added to the competition. This is not an event just for contestants, however, because the event gives small/no air skiers and boarders and just plain viewers a chance to see some of the best in New England. With more than $1,000 in prizes at stake it is sure to be exciting.

The event will be held at Pat’s Peak’s Turbulence Park starting at 12:30pm on Saturday, January 21. Anyone interested in participating as a contestant should sign up on Saturday from 8:30am to 11:30am in the Valley Lodge with a $20 Entry Fee. In addition, contestants must have at least a Valley Lift Ticket or Pats Peak Season Pass. All entrants need to sign a release of liability form and contestants age 17 and under must have a parental consent form as well.

Mix with Mascots on Mascot Day

The weekend is filled out Sunday with the resort’s annual Mascot Day, featuring more than 25 mascot’s for businesses and teams from around the state. In addition to Pat’s own Boris the Bear and Snowball, look for the likes of the Fisher Cat’s Fungo, Crash and Max from the Monarchs, Bob the Builder, Smokey the Bear and Monty the Mallard from the Mount Washington Cruises. Also attending will be Ribby – the cuddly bat from the Keene Swamp Bats, Milo from the N.H. Motor Speedway and the Dare Lion. Mascot Day is a nice family day out, even for non-skiers. While Sunday is forecast to be a bit overcast, that should not dampen the fun. This is not only a good chance to see all of these famed Mascots from around the state but a chance to have pictures taken with each of them, a real highlight for younger members of the family.
