Pat McEwen pitches Husson to victory in season opener

Pat McEwen pitched a three hit shutout to lead the Husson University Eagles to an 8-0 victory in their season opener at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational on Monday afternoon.

McEwen allowed only three singles and struck out four in his complete game victory over Roger Williams.

Jordan Carter led the Eagles offense with three hits. Brandon Gendreau hit two doubles and scored two runs.

Pat Thibodeau and Benjamin McLain finished with two hits each.

Husson held a 4-2 lead over Roger Williams going to the 7th and final scheduled inning of game two of their double header.

Roger Williams scored two runs to send the game into extra innings. They scored three more in the ninth inning to pull out the 7-4 victory over the Eagles.

Thibodeau had two hits in game two and four hits for the doubleheader.

Shawn Smith and Josh Gaudette had two hits each for the Eagles. Carter finished with one hit in game two and four hits in the two games.

Husson (1-1) will play Rensselaer on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.
