According to BCNN1 Thursday, rapper Pastor Mason Betha's wife, Twyla Betha is not banned from the church after having a DUI arrest according to a public notice from the church. There are stories circulating in the media that Twyla is banned from the pulpit. Mase, is a hip hop rapper, and has churches in Atlanta and Phoenix. Twyla Betha is co-pastor at the El Elyon International church founded by Mason.
This message is posted the El Elyon International Church Facebook page:
The story that media outlets have released concerning the Betha family and the church are not accurate. MA$E nor the members of the church had any idea of any occurrence of an arrest or these charges taking place before today.
Our hearts go out to the entire Betha family and church members. Twyla is not banned from our church and the doors of our church have and always will be open to those who desire to seek a closer relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
The 38-year-old rapper-turned-preacher, filed for divorce in January of this year, but pulled back the request within 24 hours of filing. The couple has been married 12 years and have two children. Mase has gone back and forth to the hip hop world, and one of his most recent songs, "Nothing," has drawn criticism.
So then why is Twyla drinking? Life can certainly be stressful at times for preachers and their wives. Mase and his wife support strong marriages. They often speak about marriage and encourage being with other strong married couples. But drinking while driving is not healthy for anyone.
Let's hope this couple gets the help they need so they can be good parents to their children.
