Pastor Ed Young asks: 'What would Jesus say to Kim Kardashian?'

Ed Young is known for his creative sermons that focus on contemporary issues. On Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, he and his wife aired a live show in bed on a rooftop to talk about marriage and to promote his book, "Sexperiment."

The pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas is taking a look at some of America's biggest celebrities and preaching sermons surrounding them.

He uses the title: "What Would Jesus Say to . . .?"

There is a flyer about these sermons that includes a picture of The Last Supper with the disciples' faces replaced with the celebrities Young plans to preach about: Kim Kardashian, LeBron James, Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Jones, Lance Armstrong and Katy Perry. (See photo above).

The popular pastor of a church with over 20,000 members told the Christian Post:

"I'm not slamming any of these celebrities – this is not a 'slam these celebrities series.' I am simply taking certain portions of their lives and I am talking about these things. I don't know any of these people personally – we think we know people just because we read about them in an article or in a tweet, but only God knows their heart."

Young has already preached, "What Would Jesus Say to Kim Karadashian?"

In his sermon, he said:

"Kim Kardashian is an interesting personality. She has 17 million followers on Twitter. One of the most googled people in the world. She grew up in Beverly Hills with a silver spoon in her mouth."

Pastor Young reminded the congregation about Kardashian's reputation. As Kardashian has admitted, the media first began paying her close attention when she started dating Nick Lachey, former singer from boy band 98 Degrees, in 2006.

In 2007, a homemade sex tape between her and rapper Ray J was leaked on the Internet, she posed nude for Playboy, and began starring in the reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" along with her two sisters. In Aug. 2011, she married NBA star Kris Humphries, only to file for divorce 72 days later. Now she is expecting a baby with rapper/producer Kanye West, while still legally married to Humphries.

Pastor Young expressed that now more than ever, culture embraces people who are famous for being famous, or people popular because they are popular.

The pastor answered the question: "What would Jesus say to Kim Kardashian?

"Make me famous. If you're really going to be well-known, you have to make me known.' Jesus knows our strengths and weaknesses, our problems, our sins. He knows us. So if we allow Him to know us well, then we can make Him well-known."
