A pastor was arrested in connection with a pawn shop triple homicide, according to the Danville, Kentucky police. The arrest of Kenneth A. Keith, 48, of Burnside, Ky., has shocked the community, according to “Fox and Friends” live on Thursday morning Oct. 10.
WAVE 3 reports this morning that Keith used to own a pawn shop in the same location of the pawn shop were the triple homicides took place. Back on September 20, a young boy called 911 to report a shooting at the pawn shop where his father was a co-owner.
When police arrived there were three bodies. The bodies were those of the boy’s parents, Michael and Angela Hockensmith and the third victim was identified as Daniel Smith. The 9-year-old boy and his 20-month-old sibling were in the shop at the time of the homicides. The boy called 911. Police had to break through a plate glass door to get in, as the shop was locked from the inside.
This brutal killing shocked the community, who are now equally as shocked with the arrest of a prominent pastor in town. It is not known what the boy witnessed or if he was any help at leading the authorities to Keith.
Keith owned Kings Corner Pawn shop in the same location as the ABC Gold Games and More shop, which is where the triple homicides occurred. Steve Devine, who co-owned the store with the now deceased Hockensmith said that Hockensmith once worked for Keith as a manager of his pawn shop.
Devine is stunned at Keith’s arrest because he thought he was “a stand up man.” He also said that he has no idea what the motive for these killings could be if Keith actually did what he is accused of.
Keith is a pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church in Burnside. He lives next door to the church. He also owns a business in Somerset, Gold Rush Gold Buyers. He was at his business when police came in and cuffed him and put him under arrest.
Keith is charged with three counts of murder and one count of robbery. He was incarcerated in the Pulaski County Detention Center and he will be transferred to Boyle County soon.
A woman who attended the funeral of the couple who was killed said that Keith was there, saying how the dead couple were such wonderful people and how horrendous it is that they were victims of this crime. The investigation is on-going and police have not released any information about what led them to arresting this pastor.
