According to All Christian News on Dec. 13, a pastor in Union City, Tennessee won’t face any jail time after he and his mistress plotted to kill his wife of 34 years. That's because his wife supported him throughout the court processings.
Pastor Eddie Mallonee and his mistress Shelly Moran who is a member of his church were not sentenced to any time in jail. Instead, they were given supervised probation after a plea bargain in the case.
The pastor and his mistress plotted to kill Cathy Mallonee. Yet she came to court holding his hand and standing by him.
The pastor and his mistress had planned to take Cathy on a trip to Honduras and poison her there.
They were both originally indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit first degree murder and attempt to commit first degree murder.
John Miles, an attorney for Eddie Mallonee, released this statement after the sentence was announced:
“I know this case had an impact many people in our community. Whatever else might be said, I hope we can move forward in a spirit of reconciliation. We all want healing for our community and for all those affected in a wonderful church, both of which remain strong and will grow even stronger.”
Do you think the pastor and his mistress should have gotten such a light sentence? What are you thoughts about the wife standing by the man who had plotted to murder her?
