Pastor Alois Bell

What could be said that hasn’t already been stated?

Oh many things. Pastor please show us all where in the Bible it is written that one cannot donate to a church and also fulfill daily financial obligations.

When one goes to a restaurant, it is understood that the servers make far less than the poverty inducing minimum wage. The entire business model, including the price of the food, is based on customers supplementing the staff’s take home pay.

So, when you ate at an Applebee’s, and using the verb “eat” is a stretch. Correction. There is no question that you, Pastor Bell consumed, and the semantic debate should be on the word “food.”

Anyway, how does one give to God? You, Pastor Bell stated that you presented him with 10% presumably of your income. What does that look like?

Do the funds wend their way into your storefront church? Not that there is anything wrong with finding faith in any location. But does your tithing only support your ministry?

Just asking.

And what would Jesus say about not providing for the waitress who served you? If you cannot afford $6, then prepare your own food. Again, tacit contract between diner and server.

By the way Pastor Bell, the reason that restaurants, again word loosely applied inre Applebee’s, add a gratuity to the bill is that people like you stiff them. Or under tip. Or leave some nasty put-down posing as faith.

Oh, as for calling the establishment in question and demanding everyone be fired?

Really? After Jesus turned the other check, and washed the feet of the poor, is that what he did? Did he demand that an entire restaurant fire their all of their employees?

Not just the one responsible but everyone?

When this column taught Marketing at a local university, the class was told never, ever write or do anything online that they wouldn't want their mother to see the next day. On the front page of any website you could name. Thanks to smartphones, that applies off-line antics as well.

Of course Applebee’s should invite back the young woman who posted the check with obnoxious comments on Reddit but she has received offers and options.

And IRS, here is a church and a pastor with a questionable grasp of money.

Just saying.
