Here is a pasta recipe that is simple and effortless – and, even better, it is really, really tasty! Whenever you are stuck with the dilemma of wanting a delicious meal in a short amount of time, here’s a recipe for pasta that will amaze you in its simplicity. The best thing is that it tastes so good, your family and friends will request it.
Some of us are marinara snobs, vowing to never buy a jar of sauce. Now that there are so many delicious ready-made sauces, those days of snobbery can be over. And, of course, it’s hard not to love the ease of use as well as the time-saving element of simply opening a jar.
This recipe calls for ziti. If you aren’t familiar with ziti, it’s more than a great word for the Scramble board. Ziti is a tubular pasta that is sometimes long, but usually broken into 2-inch pieces prior to cooking. Because of its tubular shape, it’s great for holding onto the sauce. If you want to use a similar substitute, try penne.
Always when using dried pasta, cook it about 2 minutes less than the directions on the back of the box. The sauce will soak up into the pasta while you are making the rest of the recipe and the texture and taste of the pasta will be wonderful.
Easy Cheesy Ziti Recipe
Ingredients for Easy Cheesy Ziti:
- 1-pound box of ziti (penne or other short tubular pastas work well, too)
- 1 pound ricotta cheese
- 1 jar tomato basil marinara sauce (spaghetti sauce)
- ¼ cup parmesan, shredded
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
Directions for Easy Cheesy Ziti:
Cook the ziti according to package directions, except cook it 2 minutes less than suggested. Drain and return to the pot.
Stir in the ricotta, marinara sauce, and parmesan. Pour into a baking dish and, if desired, spoon a little more sauce over the ziti. Sprinkle with a little more parmesan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes covered with foil. Remove foil, sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and return to the oven uncovered for 15 more minutes. Serve with crusty bread and a fresh salad.
