Kathleen Bass, owner and operator of Avalon Mist Wellness Center on Barton Street in Hamilton, Ontario, learned the hard way that when life knocks you down, you just have to pick yourself up and make the most of it.
“I had lost my job and I was trying to make some money,” she said adding that she took a class on tarot card reading through a woman at Ways to Wisdom, an occult boutique and bookstore also on Barton Street. She figured if fake psychics could make money, she could do the same using tarot cards. But while taking the course, she learned otherwise.
“I started to realize it wasn’t fake,” Kathleen said adding that the female teacher “could lay out the cards and tell us really specific stuff.”
That realization led the 55-year-old to read everything she could and her goal of making money turned into a desire to help people. She picked up a deck of special tarot cards called The Phoenix Cards by Susan Sheppard too that she now uses herself to give past life readings to her clients.
The Phoenix Cards are described as “the first divinatory toll specifically created for studying past lives to better understand the present.” Its 28 cards have images that represent world cultures and the symbols on them can trigger past life memories including uncovering latent talents, lessons one needs to learn and explain irrational fears, among other things.
Each of the 28 images is a visual representation of a particular world culture that will bring into focus the times and places of previous incarnations. The symbols of the Phoenix Deck will trigger unconscious memories that will enable you to see yourself more clearly and help you develop latent talents, identify lessons that must be learned, and explain irrational fears, attractions, and impulses.
With this newly found knowledge, Kathleen also decided to look into past life regression and through reading, taught herself the technique so she could provide her clients with another alternative to past-life readings.
Through her center, she also offers a variety of other services including everything from reflexology, manicures/pedicures, facials (including a yummy chocolate one!), therapeutic relaxation, hot stone and chair massage, bio-magnetic massage therapy, Chi relaxation treatments, ionic detox foot baths, Rife therapy (using ultrasound to kill germs), T-Zone oscillating vibration, seaweed body wraps, Indian head massage (for stress, migraines, insomnia and more) and Reiki, all by licensed practitioners.
Her center even offers Access Bars energy sessions to relieve such things as stress, depression, pain and insomnia. Kathleen explained that there are 32 bars of energy that run through and around a person’s head that refer to specific areas of one’s life, such as relationships, creativity, sex and money. A light touch is used on areas of the head to dissipate their electromagnetic energy to cause needed changes in one’s body, mind and spirit.
And speaking of spirit, Kathleen has been told by a couple of her more sensitive friends that there is one in her place of business. Perhaps this spirit helps guide her in her work.
Melissa Baxter, who just underwent a past life regression with Kathleen also offers a variety of services at the site under her business, Honey Bee Aesthetics, including manicures, facials, waxing and more.
“I met Kathleen and we hit if off fantastically,” she said.
