For all three of my books, my Guides channeled much information pertaining to the fact that Karma is energy that needs to balanced; either in this lifetime or in another; and as we plan an upcoming incarnation, we decide what Karmic energy we are going to balance, and what experiences we want to have for the purposes of our spiritual growth.
My Guides have also mentioned that it is not unusual for us to reincarnate with a group of souls that we’ve incarnated with before, with each soul in the group playing different roles at different times in order to help each other learn particular lessons. Keep this information in mind as I turn this column over right now to Shirley Mary Fish, author of Forever Love Twin Souls, who shares her own personal past life memories with us for this series:
My past life recalls began in 1999 on the morning I was to attend a workshop about healing trauma. I woke from a precognitive dream that I would meet someone important to me at this conference. I did indeed meet someone, whom I’ll call Darryl, and knew that I knew him on some deep level though we had never met before. After the workshop I was bombarded by intense, overwhelming and intrusive feelings of missing him. Being a practical person, happily married and a counselor, I felt there had to be a logical explanation, yet I had also previously been through a process of learning to trust my feelings and my intuition—and, around the same time, I also began to have a Kundalini spiritual energy experience.
While all this was happening to me in my present life, I saw my Doctor, a Neurologist and a specialist who was aware of reincarnation and had had a near death experience. All my medical results came back normal and after an EEG, the Neurologist suggested I was having a spiritual experience, and the other specialist confirmed the Kundalini/Spiritual Awakening and past life recollections I was having.
The first past life recall I had after the workshop, began at a moment when I was experiencing intense anger because Darryl had not communicated with me for a few weeks. This seemed to act as a trigger for a flashback of a previous life. In an awake state I saw myself being strangled. This was complete with details of the large hands around my young thin neck, the feeling that I was about sixteen years of age, and intense feelings of both hate and love. I later had a more detailed recall about this lifetime and ‘saw’ that it was a fairly recent lifetime in Philadelphia. My name then was Evangeline and I was in the care of my abusive uncle who was an important official, who murdered me and murdered other people. The most painful aspect of my murder was that I was separated from Darryl yet again!
I was determined to find and grapple with all of my traumatic separations from Darryl in past lives, hoping this would lighten the feelings of missing and longing for him that consumed me since meeting him. And in fact, each time I connected to a past life trauma, I did obtain more understanding, resolution and relief.
I began to jot down my past life recollections in an attempt to process what was happening to me. Some of these recalls were spontaneous and unsolicited and others came when I put forth a question such as: “Why do I have these feelings for Darryl” or “What happened when I was strangled.” I would then sit quietly and wait for the pictures to begin.
Another significant past life that I recalled was another traumatic separation from Darryl. It took place in London, England when he was black and destitute, and begging in front of my flat. I was white, and a teacher from a wealthy family. Despite our being in love he felt he could not marry me. I eventually married my fiancé when I had no other choice. My new husband hired Darryl as his ‘man-servant’. The constant contact yet the inability to be close led Darryl to suicide while I fell into a deep depression. I came out of this state when one of my students cut through my black cloud and my suicide attempts by showing me a symbolic drawing of her life with an abusive teacher who was substituting for me. It was the crayoned picture of a sky without the sun.
It seems to me that in several past lives, Darryl and I had many traumatic separations and my learning in this life was to realize that there are actually no separations – ever - and thus no need to be traumatized by this delusion of separation. Darryl and I - all of us - continually come back to be with each other and to help each other learn whatever it is we need and choose to learn.
I have found that recalling past lives heals some traumas, relationships, phobias, false beliefs and many other symptoms when these are related to something that happened in a past life.
Dear Readers, I am so grateful to Shirley for sharing her past life recollections with us in this column. When I initially read her account, I realized how important it is to share her memories with you because her poignant story reminds us all that (1) we do travel together in soul groups, (2) we do change the roles we play, and (3) we do help each other learn and grow and move forward. In this lifetime, Darryl was an important catalyst for Shirley to take what she’s learned and write a book based on her experiences to help us all develop a better understanding of reincarnation. As I mentioned above, Shirley’s book is called Forever Love: Twin Souls Traumatically Separated in Past Lives and a Kundalini Awakening, and while I haven’t had the opportunity to read it yet, it is at the top of my must read list.
