Passenger pilot: Angry note penned to female pilot by sexist passenger

See also

A passenger wrote a letter to a pilot after a recent flight on a WestJet flight and the note was plain old nasty. On March 5, ABC News reported that pilot Carey Smith Steacy found the note after the flight and posted it online. Apparently one of the passengers on the flight was really bothered that a woman was piloting the plane.

"To Capt. / WestJet, The cockpit of airlier [sic] is no place for a woman. A woman being a mother is the most honor not as "captain" Proverbs 31 (Sorry not P.C.) P.S. I wish WestJet could tell me a fair lady is at the helm so I can book another flight! Were [sic] short mothers not pilots Westjet (sic)," the note read (via ABC News).

The passenger wrote the pilot the note on a cocktail napkin and left it on the aircraft, clearly in hopes that someone would find it. For some reason, the passenger was really bothered that a woman was working never mind piloting a plane. The note clearly suggested that a woman should be a "mother" and that mothers "are not pilots."

WestJet handled the note with class releasing the following statement: "We are enormously proud of the professionalism, skills and expertise of our pilots and we were disappointed to see this note" (via ABC News). Most people are backing the pilot in this instance, many sending in notes of their own requesting flights with Carey Smith Steacy.

This passenger / pilot disagreement is sparking debate -- but not about females in the workplace. About people in the world that think so differently than others.
