A passenger collapsed in the aisle of a United Airlines plane that departed Colorado and was headed for Houston on a Tuesday night flight. The United Airlines Flight 95 radioed ahead that there was a medical emergency on board and emergency medical services met the plane when it landed in Houston, according to Value Walk on August 6.
Witnesses said it was about 9 p.m. when the man collapsed on board flight 95 and the plane landed in Houston at about 11 p.m. local time. On board the plane the man was given CPR, but when he was met at the Houston airport by the paramedics, it was too late and the man was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be done to get the official cause of death of this man.
Houston Homicide and the Harris County Medical Examiner are investigating the man’s death. The man’s name was not released and police report that they do not expect foul play in this man’s death.
United Airlines had a death on board a flight in February this year, but they didn’t know it until the flight landed. Some of the passengers said they had alerted the attendants on the flight to the man who appeared to be unconscious, but they were told that the man was snoozing. Upon landing he was unresponsive.
Another tragedy occurred on the ground at the same Houston airport, according to Click 2 Houston. A maintenance man fell to his death at the same airport that the flight landed with a man who had died on board the United flight.
The Bush Intercontinental Airport was the site of two emergencies, both resulting in deaths on Tuesday night. First was the man who died on the flight followed by a maintenance man who lost his life while inspecting part of a railing near Terminal C about 11:30 p.m. when he fell to his death. This was right after the flight landed with the dead passenger on board.
Investigators said that the man apparently lost his footing and fell. He was inspecting part of the tram system at the time of his accident.
