It’s a party going on “Dancing with the Stars” Monday night with special guest judge Redfoo of LMFAO. He brought his trademark glasses that had the entire audience and judges, including Len Goodman, channeling their inner Redfoo during his mini-bumper performance. All the music and dances clearly reflected a party anthem theme.
Redfoo had to be one of the most entertaining guest judges since the show started with this concept last season. He had memorable critiques like “You must be an entrepreneur, because you owned that.” or “ET phone home...that was out of this world.” There certainly were a number of memorable performances from couples who owned it and one that was out of this world.
Amy Purdy and Derek Hough did it again by closing out the show, and owning it, with their fast-paced jive as wedding crashers with the retro party anthem “Shout” by The Isley Brothers. Carrie Ann Inaba said it best by telling Amy she has the “best kicks and flicks of anyone” she’s ever seen doing the jive on the show.
Charlie White and Sharna Burgess went all day-glo and neon with their cha-cha that made even Redfoo wanting to go up there and dance. It was great to hear the ‘90s classic "Gonna Make you Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C+C Music Factory. That’s a song you can’t sit down to.
There’s no doubt Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a difficult pro dancer for any celebrity to work with. It was only a matter of time when Meryl Davis would become his next victim, except that wasn’t the case. In all the seasons they’ve shown rehearsal videos before each performance, this was hands down the most tender and compassionate of all. Meryl had a sweet way of taming Maks down. She even asked to hold his hand.
Instead of a celebrity and pro dancing the tango it looked like two pros dancing in their place. Maks and Meryl burned up the dance floor that had everyone in the ballroom mesmerized, according to host Tom Bergeron. They finally earned a well-deserved perfect score of “40.” Redfoo could hardly contain his excitement when he told them “I say E.T. phone home. You know why? ‘Cause that was out of this world!”
Come on down you’re the next contestant to be eliminated on “Dancing with the Stars.” It was “Price is Right” game show host and comedian Drew Carey’s turn to go home. Next week Ricky Martin will be the guest judge and performer on Latin week.
