The Palm Beach Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. AZA offers accreditation to many zoos and aquariums around the country. The accreditation process is long and intense and it means that these facilities have to live up to very high standards. Accreditation not only means high standards for animal care but for public education as well. It also means that American zoos work together to further conservation and preservation of endangered species throughout the world.

South Florida is lucky to have access to three of these 100 elite zoos within an hour’s drive; Lion Country Safari, Miami Metro Zoo and the Palm Beach Zoo.

Many AZA accredited zoo celebrate Party for the Planet one weekend in April each year in honor of Earth Day.   Party for the Planet is billed by AZA as North America’s largest Earth Day celebration.

South Floridians get a chance to participate in the activities, giveaways and special events by heading out to the Palm Beach Zoo in West Palm Beach. The festivities will commence April 15th, 16th and the 18th.
