Party appetizers: Bourbon spiked slow cooker kielbasa bites

See also

Occasions come up all the time not necessarily when a holiday is nearing. Being asked to bring a covered dish, appetizer or dessert may be suggested by the host. Whether it is a birthday, anniversary, office or family party food is always present. Sometimes just appetizers are served and other times an entire dinner is prepared. Next time you are asked to bring something to nosh on before dinner or if appetizers and cocktails are being served this dish is quick, easy and takes no effort on your part but tastes like you spent a lot of time preparing the special sauce coating each bite of kielbasa.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of kielbasa, cut into ½ inch chunks
  • 1 cup of apricot preserves
  • ½ cup of maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of bourbon

Directions:

  1. Place all the ingredients into a slow cooker and cover.
  2. Set the timer and cook on low for 4 to 4 ½ hours.
  3. Remove kielbasa and place on serving tray.
  4. Place a few toothpicks sporadically into a few kielbasa pieces and set out a small glass of toothpicks for guest to use and serve.
  5. Enjoy!

Suggestions:

  • In place of the bourbon use 2 tablespoons of apple juice if serving a group who doesn’t drink or underage children.
