On the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet, The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township unveiled two Electric Vehicle Charging Stations across from the Brio Tuscan Grille, near the shopping center's main entrance.
"We thought about this idea, because when we opened, we built with everything which would give us the highest efficiency and performance," says Seok Chung, Marketing Director of The Mall at Partridge Creek. "Last year we began a recycling program with the tenants, and this was the next logical step, being in Macomb County with so much Auto Industry presence."
And with The Mall at Partridge Creek being such a big presence in Clinton Township and Macomb County, Joe Peruzzi, Liaison from Clinton Township, shares, "This is the cutting edge of new technology, and that will be the only way to succeed in the future."
The future includes electric cars, like the Chevrolet Volt, which Moran Chevrolet was delighted to bring to the new charging stations to demonstrate the beauty of the Volt and the ease of recharging.
Chris Aleksander, New Vehicle Sales Director of Marketing and Advertising of Moran Chevrolet, explains, "The Chevrolet Volt is the first step in the evolution. And, if you think about it, this was not possible even a couple of years ago."
A couple of years ago, 100 to be exact as of November 3, 2011, is when Louis Chevrolet, race car driver and automotive engineer, and William "Billy" Durant, ousted General Motors founder, got together and co-founded Chevrolet, along with their investment partners.
Perhaps taking a clue from a century ago, The Mall at Partridge Creek has partnered with local companies to help further this concept. "We like to 'Keep it in the Community'," shares Seok Chung. "With a natural local tie in to the Auto Industry, we also like to work with local businesses, such as MacombTownship's CarPlug, which is a division of LaBelle Electric."
CarPlug completed the installation of two Level Two charging stations, which were made by Eaton Corporation, and are wired with 220 lines, allowing for faster charging.
The best news is, the charging is free at The Mall at Partridge Creek. You can pull up, plug in and go shopping.
"We feel this is another way for us to be a Community leader, and to be just ahead of the curve," explains Chung.
Moran Chevrolet's Tom Eddington, New and Used Car Sales, was available with the new Volt vehicle and was nearby to answer any questions.
"Moran Chevrolet and Pat Moran are very generous and agreed to help right away. They are more than cooperative when it comes to these kinds of things, and Pat is a real supporter of the Township and of the DDA," reports Joe Peruzzi.
The Mall at Partridge Creek has been opened for four years and remains committed to customer service, innovation, and their role as a Community leader. And with industry experts predicting sales of electric cars to top 350,000 in the United States by 2017, these charging stations are exactly where Seok Chung said they like to be, "just ahead of the curve."
