The Irvine Nature Center is offering a course on bird-watching, "The Fascinating Lives of Maryland's Birds," on Oct 1. There will be four sessions, held every Tuesday. The hours are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Students will learn such things as bird identification, migration, courtship, and ecology. The class costs $45.00 for members and $50.00 for non-members. The Oyster Recovery Partnership is holding their annual fundraiser, The Mermaid Kiss Oyster Fest 2013, on Oct 1 at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The hours are 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be live music, drinks, and hors d'oeuvres (including oysters). Attendees may also visit the renovated Aquarium, including the new shark exhibit.
