If you had just one chance to share your life story with millions of people, what would you say? On 10/10/10, people from around the world will take part in the One Day on Earth project, an “unprecedented event” where filmmakers, students, organizations and citizens come together to record and share their life over a 24-hour period. Launched in 2008, the worldwide documentary project encourages people from all walks of life to simultaneously film their day and share it with others around the globe.
Nearly 450,000 students are participating in the event. Free toolkits for teachers are available for classroom participation. The United Nations Fund for Children (UNICEF), the United Nations Department for Public Information, American Red Cross, Water.org and various other non-profits, are all part of the effort. Vimeo will host the archive.
Whether you are expecting a child, celebrating an anniversary or birthday, supporting a cause near and dear to your heart or coloring your hair, participating in this unique event is simple. Just sign up. Once your membership is approved, you are ready to capture and share your life in a day. Content must be created on October 10, 2010 and uploaded by November 10, 2010.
