Keyboard options
Samsung offers a Type Cover or a Touch Cover for an additional $130 or $120. I have mostly used the Type Cover because I have old fashion fingers that are used to tactile feedback. The Type Cover gives the user an experience that is miles ahead of the keyboard that come with Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro. The touchpad is small and annoying, but at least it works. I was able to type as fast as I usually do on a laptop keyboard with the Type Cover.
One may say that at least Samsung includes a keyboard dock, but you will wish they hadn't once you use this. The keyboard is almost useless as it doesn't always dock right and you will find yourself missing keys you are trying to type. The touchpad on the device is also useless.
The Surface Pro is the clear winner here. Samsung should be ashamed to have included such a bad keyboard with the ATIV Smart PC Pro.
Stylus and digitizer
The Surface Pro comes with a pressure-sensitive Surface Pen that magnetically attaches to the power connector to hold it in place when you're on the go. Writing felt natural, but no matter how many times I calibrated the digitizer, the pen didn't always write at the exact point where it hit the screen. This is normal for most Windows 8 tablets, but you would think Microsoft would have tried to fix things for the Surface Pro.
The stylus on the ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T is just like the one that comes with the Galaxy Note 2 -- cheaply made, but it works. Best of all, the calibration accuracy exceeds that of the Surface Pro. The ATIV would make a great digital notebook for handwritten notes, but at 11.6-inches, it is too big and too wide.
Though the stylus is better on the Surface Pro, the ATIV has the best pen accuracy.
