Continued from Part 1

Performance

HTC includes a Qualcomm 528 Mhz processor in the Droid Eris and the performance is decent, but not great. It is slightly better than the performance of the HTC Hero. There is still some lag when opening and switching applications. The lag is expecially noticeable when the accelerometer doesn't work right away when browsing the Internet. However, we also found out that the lag decreases when closing all the unused background apps with a task manager that can be downloaded in the app store. Believe it or not, Android doesn't actually close all background applications when you exit them.

The HTC Sense system, built on top of the Android operating system, lets you create personal widgets and screens for your own personalization. This works very well, but the Droid Eris would probably be a lot faster without all the memory that HTC Sense takes up.

Entertainment

Playing music on the Droid Eris is a decent experience with good sound. We had some problems playing MP4 videos on the HTC Hero, but they run smoother on the Droid Eris. The videos, which display only 65,000 colors, look less than average and the performance, even on a Class 4 Micro-SD card, is sometimes choppy. YouTube videos were also a little choppy.

You are a retard, this article doesnt compare the eris and the Iphone, it compares the Eris and the Hero, as far as the comparison it is one guys opinion, when the facts are that only by cosmetics are these phones different. They are built with the same f-ing hardware. If you wanna pay more for this phone on VZW go for it, but you are throwing your money away.

I agree, if you want to pay way more for VZ service, more power to you. However, the 4 command buttons on the Eris is a big design flaw as I have seen several YouTube comparisons and blogs online that say that the Sprint Hero's 4 button layout is much better because VZ Eris you can easily accidentially hit one of the 4 button just below the main screen. Other than the 4 command button layout, there is not a dimes worth difference between the 2 products. Almost forgot, VZ has increased their ETF to $350, that is really customer friendly move. LOL...

I love the hero because you can personalize the phone like it was made for you. The droid is okay but will get boring in a couple of months. I'd rather save $40 a month with Sprint. My take- Hero.
