Part 113: Christian music in Fresno churches

In December, the last month of the year, many hymns and songs dedicated to the Virgin Mary resonate in Roman Catholic churches in Fresno. The three verses of the hymn "Holy Light" praise the Virgin and her purity. Mary, the "Holy Light on earth's horizon" and "Dawn of God's design," was chosen by her Creator to conceive his Son: "Hail, beloved of the Father, mother of his only Son, mystic bride of Love eternal; Hail, O fair and spotless one!" In the Canticle of Isaiah, Mary "shall be called by a new name pronounced by the mouth of the Lord, a royal diadem held by her God." Isaiah lifts his words directly toward Mary: "As a young man marries a virgin, your Builder shall marry you; and as a bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so shall your God rejoice in you." "Ecce completa sunt omnia quae dicta sunt per Angelum de Virgine Maria."
