Due to some complications with the availability of the Charlestown Baby Pool, the parkour event for charity which was scheduled for August 13-15 will be postponed until September.
The organizers of the event have stated that the reason for the postponement is because the baby pool is often used by members of the community throughout the summer, so reserving it for an event such as this one would be difficult. However, according to the Boston Redevelopment Authority who has jurisdiction over the area, the baby pool is shut down after Labor Day, which means it will be available most of September.
For this reason, New England Parkour thought it best to reschedule the event for a weekend in September. Currently, the new time is slated for September 10-12. The other details of the event, including the times, location, and fundraising opportunities, are expected to remain the same.
In other news, American Parkour has gotten behind the charity event as well. American Parkour (APK) is a web community very similar to New England Parkour, but its membership extends to traceurs all over the country (thus the name). APK, a familiar name to most American traceurs, has recently added the New England charity jam to their events calendar to help with promotions.
The charity event is still looking for more traceurs to attend and raise funds for the event. If the new date fits your schedule, head to the charity jam website to find more information and download a pledge form (for a better description of how the pledge forms work, there is an extensive explanation on the New England Parkour forum). And if you are not a traceur, you can still be a part of the action by attending the event and donating to the cause.
