Parkland College celebrates Earth Week

Parkland College is asking for volunteers, and wanting to get the word out about their Earth Week celebration going on in April.

Each day, starting April 19 through the 24th, there will be booths and activities set up with a different theme each day:

Monday: Trash and Recycling - There will be a campus wide trash cleanup with a later presentation and game.

Tuesday: Prairies and Ecosystems - This day will have Prairie and pond planting activities with information booths available, as well as discussions in Flag Lounge regarding gardening and prairie plants.

Wednesday: Energy and Transportation - There will be ribbon cutting of the new bicycle racks on campus as well as a green transportation expo and a quiz game.

Thursday: Food and Sustainablilty - A screening of  FOOD INC, and discussion will be held as well as a lunch giveaway.

Friday: Green Business Expo - This will be held in Flag Lounge and College Center.

Saturday: Battle of the Bands and more - Come for a great time in the outer grounds!

There is also a Think Green/Win Green contest  with winners announced Thursday, and a student art exhibit with recycled materials from the library.

The event is sponsered by the Parkland College Sustainable Campus Comittee.
