Parise Rossignol earns fifth athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com

When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2013/2014 Winter season- Week 3 -December 16th-December 22nd

Female

Parise Rossignol- Van Buren- basketball- Became the 16th high school player in Maine to surpass 2000 career points, when she scored 23 points in 61-52 loss to Limestone.

Recorded 43 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in 69-47 victory over Greater Houlton Christian.

This is the fifth time Rossignol has earned athlete of the week. She joins Max McHugh and Isaiah Bess as student/athletes who have won AOW five times.

Runner up

Morgan Thompson- Schenck- basketball- Recorded 26 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in 52-33 win over Mattanawcook. Scored 18 points in 49-23 win over Katahdin.

Other nominations

Maddy McVicar-Calais- basketball- Scored 22 points in 60-56 win over Ellsworth.

Raychel Alley- Stearns- basketball- Recorded 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 41-36 victory over Houlton. Scored 17 points in 46-45 win over Mattanawcook.

Jordynne Littlefield- PCHS- basketball- Scored 23 points in 56-25 victory over Bangor Christian. Had 15 points in 40-31 victory over Central. Scored seven points in 54-20 loss to Dexter.

Megan Peach- Dexter- basketball- Recorded 15 points, 15 rebounds, and six steals in 54-23 victory over PVHS. Scored 10 points in 45-31 victory over Central. Recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds in 54-20 victory over PCHS.

Theresa Onmuka- Lee Academy- basketball- Scored 19 point and had 10 rebounds in 39-35 loss to John Bapst. She scored 14 points and 19 rebounds in 48-40 win over Penquis. In the win over Penquis, Onmuka was injured and sat out part of the second half.
