Paris Jackson recently reunited with her birth mother Debbie Rowe after more than a decade apart. According to TMZ on April 5, Michael Jackson's daughter Paris spent most of her 15th birthday with her biological mother, who signed over her parental rights when she divorced the singer in 1999.
Michael Jackson met his second wife Debbie Rowe while he was undergoing treatment for a skin condition that dramatically lightened his skin tone. She was reportedly the nurse for Jackson's dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, who was treating Jackson's skin condition. Jackson and Rowe became good friends over the course of the treatments and were married in November 1996 during his HIStory World Tour, which lasted from September 1996 to October 1997.
Rowe was already approximately six months pregnant with the couples's first child, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., when they were married. Michael Joseph, commonly known as Prince, was born on February 13, 1997, and his sister Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson was born a little over a year later on April 3, 1998. The couple divorced in 1999, and Rowe signed over her parental rights to Michael Jackson during the divorce.
Since the divorce, Debbie has had virtually no contact with daughter Paris. Mother and daughter have reportedly been back in touch on several occasions since Michael Jackson's death in 2009 from an overdose. They were reunited Wednesday for Paris' 15th birthday, and according to a source, "just hung out". The source also revealed that they have gotten really tight.
Friends of Debbie say that she wants to keep her meetings with Paris a secret, so it doesn't seem as if she is exploiting their relationship. Rowe stated in a 2003 documentary on "The King of Pop" that she originally entered into the pregnancy as a business deal because she wanted Jackson to be a father. Michael's mother Katherine Jackson became the legal guardian for all three of Michael Jackson's children after his untimely death.
