After Paris Hilton’s latest arrest for cocaine possession, Hilton will spend no time in jail, but is only being given a firm warning -- if she repeats her behavior, she will most definitely face jail-time.
“The purpose here is to change your conduct,” Clark County Detention Center Justice of Peace Joe Bonaventure told Hilton.” [The Clark County Detention Center] is not the Waldorf-Astoria.”
Hilton, 29, was arrested just before midnight on August 27th on Las Vegas Boulevard after police pulled over the vehicle she was riding in. The male driver was arrested on DUI drug charges. Hilton was than arrested after police discovered .08 grams of cocaine in her purse
Hilton arrived at a Las Vegas court on Monday morning and admitted to the judge that she initially lied to police officers when she claimed the purse that contained the cocaine was not hers. A source close to Hilton told PEOPLE magazine, “At the moment it all came down, she was scared.”
Hilton pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer. As part of her sentence, she must complete 200 hours of community service, pay a $2000 fine, and complete a substance abuse program. Part of her deal reads, “Defendant shall stay out of trouble. Defendant agrees that an arrest for any charge, excluding minor traffic violations for which a citation is issued, shall result in the immediate termination of her probation and the execution of the suspended sentences.”
Sources close to Hilton say this latest arrest was a wake-up call for her. (Hilton was arrested in 2007 for violating probation in a drunk driving case). She is reportedly telling friends she is giving up her hard-partying ways and wants to “finally grow up and become a responsible adult.”
