Paris Hilton, Lionel Richie and Chris Rock - BET Awards Great Moments

Have you ever seen Paris Hilton show up for an event wearing a dowdy outfit? Neither has anyone else. Sunday’s BET Awards red carpet in Los Angeles was no exception.

Ms. Hilton wore a lovely floor-length white dress with cut-outs on each side. The length may have made the dress a bit difficult to walk in, but Paris never lets such things deter her from the glamorous life. In these photos, she struck poses both with and without her matching white sunglasses.

In other BET Awards news, the recipient of the BET Lifetime Achievement Award was Lionel Richie. The surprising thing was that the graphic announcing the honor misspelled his name. The banner erroneously announced that Lionel “Ritchie” was the Lifetime winner.

Of course, the Twitterverse could never let such a thing go un-tweeted. Immediately, #lionelritchie went viral causing the misspelled name to be sent with snarky comments all over the world.

According the old saying, any press is good press. So it must follow that music icon Lionel Richie’s well-deserved award win got more press than anyone ever expected.

But the most fun of the evening was the host of the BET Awards, Chris Rock. The often blue comic gave a very clean, yet hilarious monologue to start the show. He poked fun at most of the big stars in the room, including Chris Brown who had recently been released from jail. Rock noted that Brown "just signed a new deal -- too bad it's a plea deal."

Overall, the evening was great fun. There was no shortage of glamour or talent, making the BET Awards one of the most memorable evenings of the awards season.
