Parents who didn't like 'Grand Theft Auto' are going to freak out over film 'Kick Ass' (with video)

"Hit Girl" in the movie; "Hit Girl" in the comics

We've reported on the upcoming comic book adaptation "Kick Ass" before, but so far the only looks at the film we've had have been from one of those wussy, cowardly greenband trailers (you know, the ones approved for "General Audiences").  But now we've got the first redband trailer for the film (which means you shouldn't watch it around kids, your mom, or your priest), and the game has totally changed.  We're wondering: how many people are going to be complaining about the footage seen here? Check it out below, my gentle Examiner readers...

We've followed "Kick Ass" in comic book form since its release last year, and we've been looking forward to the film since it was announced.  That said, we did have some concerns about how faithfully they'd be able to translate the book, what with the murderous, swearing, ultraviolent "Hit Girl" who's one of the book's main characters (she's 12, for God's sake).  After seeing this, we're not worried anymore, but we are wondering how parents' groups and the like will take it:  this is hyperviolent, very profane footage, much of which revolves around a 12 year old dealing out death like she's handing out bubblegum (check out the footage, but be warned, it's pretty rough):

Holy. Crap.  While that looks absolutely fantastic to us (and what's more: it looks incredibly faithful to the book), we still think that there are going to be some pretty angry people out there over this one.  In the Mark Millar series, "Hit Girl" is just as she appears here, all swordplay and guns firing while one swear after another tumbles out of her mouth.  Imagine Natalie Portman from "The Professional", only far cooler (and you didn't think such a thing was possible).  After seeing this clip, we couldn't be more excited for the action/comedy/comicbook flick "Kick Ass" to hit theaters.  Here's hoping that it doesn't get re-edited (it's already been given an "R" rating by the MPAA) in the time between now and its release.

While we're waiting on more "Kick Ass" news, check out some of our other kick-ass articles (see what we did there?) below, my precious snowflakes.  We've got something for everyone, and if we don't, you're reading the wrong page:

THIS JUST IN: "THE JEFF DUNHAM SHOW" STILL SUCKS-- in which we look at the first season's numbers for "The Jeff Dunham Show" and offer up some commentary of our own about the series.  Warning: not for fans of "The Jeff Dunham Show".

WHAT IS MIKE TYSON DOING ON "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE"?  FIND OUT HERE, FOLKS-- in which we check out a sketch from last night's SNL, starring Mike Tyson.  Think he wanted to punch Keenan Thompson?  We may never know.
