Parents reject Common Core indoctrination and lawmakers in many states agree

Common Core State Standards are under pressure by parents and lawmakers are getting the message. They are using legislation to boot the U.S. Department of Education’s indoctrination of students in their districts.

In its usual display of arrogance, the Department thought that Common Core was a done deal but instead they found that both parents and teachers have rebelled against the program when they realized that it dis-empowered local educators and the decision-making and voting public.

Apparently the Obama administration and the Department of Education thought that American parents were like lemmings that would turn over the education of their children to faceless bureaucrats who would also compile information about students without even knowing how it would be used.

Instead Americans are demanding local control of their schools and politicians that want to be re-elected are responding. It is evident that the voices of the electorate are demanding that education be left to localties and states and the elites that are ignoring them are facing a rebellion.

According to Lance T. Izumi’s article in the National Review

...the collusion to force Common Core on American public education was endorsed by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). However parents and the public were shut out of their meetings.

Truth in American Education has published a list of states that are considering taking action or have already pulled out of the Common Core Assessment Consortium.

States that have already discarded it include:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • Oklahoma
  • Pennsylvania
  • Utah

States considering withdrawing include

  • Iowa
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • North Carolina
  • States than did not join
  • Minnesota
  • Nebraska
  • Texas
  • Virginia

While the Obama administration continues to push Common Core’s liberal indoctrination on American students lawmakers, especially those running for office or hoping to be reelected, are responding to parents who are objecting and threatening to abandon schools that use it. .
