Parents don't let your children grow up to be bimbos and himbos or Snooki

For parents of daughters, the Urban Dictionary defines bimbo

    1. A girl who is stupid, wears lots of make up and is obsessed with boys and clothes. Generally blonde but there are exceptions. Usually hang around iwith other bimbos. You can spot them because they will be     the big group of girls that all look the same and are giggling hysterically.
    .
    2. Woman who is not attractive enough to be a model, not intelligent enough to be an actress, and not nice enough to be a poisonous snake.

    3. A very stupid woman; an airhead.

Parents of sons, don't snicker because you have sons, you too can or should be equally embarrassed by your progeny. The Urban Dictionary defines himbo

    1. The male version of a bimbo, whore, or slut.

He's such a himbo that he'd sleep with anything that has, or had, a pulse.

    2. He's hot but the conversation goes nowhere as he is a total himbo

3.. He is such a himbo, can't talk to save his life, but what a body!

Waylon Jennings had a hit with the song, Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys

….Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks.
Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such.
Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
'Cos they'll never stay home and they're always alone.
    Even with someone they love....

So, modifying the message a bit, parents don't let your kids grow up to be bimbos and himbos. The New York Times a profile of Snooki, bimbo extraordinaire straight from the Jersey Shore.

Cathy Horyn had the opportunity to profile Snooki and in Snooki's Times she reports:

But trying to hold a conversation with Snooki is a little like getting down on
your hands and knees with a child. You have to come down to her level, and
sometimes you almost think you need to bribe her with a piece of candy to coax
her to be more responsive. She is really only responsive to her own immediate
needs and desires. She is not self-centered, but she is used to acting out and
    getting away with it.

“She loves to be the center of attention,” said Stephanie Greiner, a friend
since childhood, who lives in Marlboro. “Nicole was also kind of a mean girl in
high school. She was the boss of everybody.”

At the same time, she doesn’t exhibit normal levels of self-control for a woman
her age. Her father, referring to her antics on “Jersey Shore,” said, “It’s not
an act she’s putting on,” and as if to prove that, he described a recent visit
by Snooki to his office: “Instead of standing at the counter and saying, ‘Can I
speak to my father?’ she walks in and goes, ‘Daddy, Daddy!’ And people are
looking at her. It’s not an act. It’s just the way she is.”

What Horyn is describing is a self-centered and possibly narcissistic individual.

Yahoo Answers has a really good description of What Does Bimbo Really Mean?

A bimbo isn't necessarily highly sexually attractive. Being a bimbo is a state
of mind, and reflects a person who exaggerates the effort and value put into her physical attractiveness. She is often perceived to be shallowly focusing on her physical appearance and neglecting or even willfully stifling the development of  other parts of her personality.

The archetype of a bimbo with sex appeal is much used as a stock character in
comedies with sexual humor, an example being Christina Applegate's character,
Kelly Bundy, in Married... with Children. Alicia Silverstone's character, Cher
Horowitz, in Clueless is more accurately described as a valley girl, a similar
archetype with more laughably unusual priorities and behaviors than are strictly
derived from the bimbo themes of comical stupidity and sex appeal. An older
comedy archetype of perhaps more direct resemblance to the bimbo is the dumb blonde—for example, the giggling, naïve characters often portrayed by such  sultry actresses as Marilyn Monroe. Humor deriving from blonde women's (or male jocks') stupidity has been accused of sexism

The word "himbo" has been coined to describe a man who, were he a woman, would be a bimbo. [Emphasis Added]

The concern for parents should be that the child overemphasizes appearance and stifles the development of other parts of their personality. Most parents want their children to be healthy and happy individuals who are balanced in their life views.

CNN ran a report on the Miss Bimbo website. In the report, Alarm As Dolls Get Breast Implants in 'Miss Bimbo Game' CNN describes some of the views expressed at the Miss Bimbo site:

Girls are encouraged to compete against each other to become the "hottest,
coolest, most famous bimbo in the whole world."

When a girl signs up, they are given a naked virtual character to look after and
pitted against other girls to earn "bimbo" dollars so they can dress her in sexy
    outfits and take her clubbing.

They are told "stop at nothing," even "meds or plastic surgery," to ensure their dolls win.

Users are given missions, including securing plastic surgery at the game's
clinic to give their dolls bigger breasts, and they have to keep her at her
target weight with diet pills, which cost 100 bimbo dollars.

Breast implants sell at 11,500 bimbo dollars and net the buyer 2,000 bimbo
attitudes, making her more popular on the site.

And bagging a billionaire boyfriend is the most desirable way to earn the all
    important "mula" or bimbo dollars
    .

Working, it seems, is a bit of a chore in bimbo world.
The site says: "Bimbo dollars is 'the cabbage,' 'bread,' the 'mula' you'll need
to buy nice things and to get by in bimbo world. To earn some bimbo cash you
will have to (gasp) work or find a boyfriend to be your sugar daddy and hook you up with a phat expense account!"

The advice on feeding the dolls is even more spurious, encouraging them to feed the dolls "every now and then" even though they want to keep their Bimbos "waif thin." [Emphasis Added]

It is really no wonder that Tiger Woods and others like him are able to really “score” bimbo totals.

Stephen Perrine has a good article, How To Bimbo Proof Your Daughter

which is also good advice for sons.

Help Her Find Passions

“Kids turn to pop culture because they’re bored and lonely,” says Jim Taylor, PhD, author of

Your Children Are Under Attack They don’t care deeply about
anything in life, and pop culture gives them guidance and identity and
excitement.” Girls who are involved with sports, music, or dance are less likely
to be seduced by the glitter....

Here are six more ways to boost your child’s self-esteem.

Don’t Forbid—Engage

You can’t shield girls from the flood of media images aimed at them. Instead,
help your daughter separate the sales pitch from reality, says Lyn Mikel Brown,
coauthor of Packaging Girlhood. The just-say-no approach “plays right into
marketers’ hands of setting her up as an independent chooser who doesn’t need
the advice of her parents,” says Brown. “The goal is to show her how to
question.” Talk about it…even if it’s awkward. ..It’s important for moms and dads to

make a distinction between the positive aspects of a sexual life—such as intimacy and friendship—

and the exploitation of sexuality. When sex is boiled down to getting attention from guys by looking hot,

it becomes a form of advertising.

Here’s some more helpful advice on how to talk about the birds and the bees.

Find Positive Reinforcement

Pop culture may be a writhing sea of smut, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find
stuff that sends a positive message to girls. Make an effort to take your
daughter to a women’s tennis match or soccer game or to a dance concert. “Invite
girls into a bigger world,” says Brown, “where they are valued for more than
their looks...

Set an Example 24-7

Experts stress that your daughter’s values will, almost inevitably, reflect
yours. So embrace raising your girl as a chance to clean up your own act. That
doesn’t mean you have to burn every Playboy in your husband’s stash. But you
might do well asking him to consider how he’d feel if his daughter found a copy.

Here’s how one father began to set a better example for his daughter.

The point is parents must engage their children and offer them alternatives to the culture which is trying to turn children into Snooki clones. Remember that education is a partnership between the student, parent(s) or guardian(s), teacher(s), and school. All parties must be involved and engaged.

If parents are not willing to
bimbo or himbo proof their children, then sorry Waylon, it is better for kids to be a cowboy or cowgirl than a bimbo or Snooki.
