Parents charged with murder after 2-year-old Norcross boy dies in hospital

A 2-year-old boy died of his injuries almost a week after he was rushed to the hospital. And police on Friday said they have charged his parents with his death.

Mr. Adam Garber, 25, and Ms. Elizabeth Calvo, 21, were originally charged with first-degree cruelty to children. But their charge has been upgraded to felony murder, according to Gwinnett County police.

Around 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 16, officers responded to the Steeple Chase Apartments at 5856 Hunt Club Run in Norcross, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said. They were called by EMS after paramedics became suspicious of little Aiden Calvo’s injuries.

His parents had called 911 after the toddler began having seizures. But they could not explain the reason for Aiden’s injuries, Cpl. Smith said.

The boy was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite where he died Sunday, police said.

“SVU detectives interviewed medical personnel and found that Aiden had extensive injuries and signs of neglect and abuse,” Cpl. Smith said.

The parents were charged and transported to the Gwinnett County jail where they remained almost two weeks later.
