Parenting your gifted child, six week series in Oak Park

The Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) Discussion Group will be offering a program called, "Parenting Your Gifted Child."

Parents of gifted children are invited to participate in a six week series to discuss the social and emotional needs of their children, and the parenting issues related to those needs. The emphasis is on positive aspects of parenting, avoiding power struggles, and helping gifted children learn appropriate life skills while enhancing the parent/child relationship. Based on the SENG model, topics will include:

Defining Giftedness, Characteristics of Gifted Children
Communication and Relationships
Motivation, Enthusiasm, and Underachievement
Discipline and Self-Management
Intensity, Perfectionism, and Stress
Idealism, Unhappiness, and Depression
Acquaintances, Friends, and Peers
Family Relationships
Complexities of Successful Parenting
Special Concerns
Schools and Education
Resources

Tuesdays, October 27 – December 1, from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. in Oak Park, CA. This even is sponsored by the Oak Park Unified School District GATE Advisory Council.
