Parent wants teacher fired for pouring pencil shavings into childs mouth

CBS 11 News in Arlington,Texas has reported that a middle school teacher has been suspended but has since returned to work after pouring pencil shavings into a students' mouth.

Marquis Jay, the 12-year-old victim states, "I was sitting in class with my head tiltled back and opening my mouth. The teacher came over and poured the pencil shavings in my mouth."

Apprently the teacher was not the classroom teacher but came into the class to assist. The student was immediately taken to the nurse. He washed out his mouth and called his mom.

Although the teacher apoligize, admitting that she wasn't thinking right, Deidre Brown, the parent would like the teacher fired. Brown says, "I wanted to cry because it was like how could she do that? What message is it sending to the kids? She is supposed to be the teacher - the adult."

Amy Casas, Communications Director at Arlington Independent School District(AISD) made the following statement regarding the parents demands:

"This incident is unacceptable and was immediately and fully investigated by the AISD when it occurred almost a month ago. The district took appropriate disciplinary action. At no time has mom expressed any concerns about the manner in which this situation was handled."
