Classes are free to all parents/guardians. You can register one of four ways:

Early Registration Rewards

Trainings will begin July 17, 2014. These sessions fill up quickly, so make sure to register early. In addition to providing free classes, participants who register early will receive a promotional VISA gift card.
First 20 people (One per household) that register for two courses by June 6, 2014, and attend both sessions will receive a $50 VISA gift card.
First 10 people (One per household) that register for two courses after June 6, 2014 but before July 3, 2014, and attend both sessions will receive a $25 VISA gift card.
*Participants must register by deadlines and attend at least two sessions in order to qualify for gift card.
2014 Summer Parent Trainings
Therapy Solutions Children’s Services will be offering a series of free parent/child training courses to help parents of children ages 2-18 with concerns about a wide variety of topics. Parents will be provided resources on how to improve interactions and communication skills, as well as provide an understanding of topics to related education, social skills, and job readiness. All trainings will be evidenced based and delivered by trained, licensed educators and psychologists.
Training courses will run from July 17, 2014 to September 18, 2014.

Transportation
Our office is conveniently located 20 minutes outside Center City at 915 Montgomery Ave, Narberth, PA 19072. Parking is accessible behind our building by turning on Gordon Road. Limited transportation vouchers will be available to those using public trans-portation.
Head south on I-76 E. Take exit 346A on the left for South St. Turn left onto South St. Make a U-turn. Turn right to merge onto I-76 W. Take exit 341 for Montgomery Dr toward W River Dr. Turn left onto Montgomery Dr. Turn right onto Belmont Ave. Turn left onto Conshohocken Ave. Continue onto PA-23 W. Continue onto Montgomery Ave, office will be on the right.
From Roosevelt Blvd US-1
Head south on Roosevelt Blvd. Continue onto U.S. 1 S/Roosevelt Expy. Continue to follow U.S. 1 S. Merge onto I-76 W. Take exit 338 for Belmont Ave toward Green Ln. Turn left onto Belmont Ave. Turn right onto Pennsylvania 3052. Turn right onto PA-23 W. Turn left onto Righters Mill Rd. Take the 1st left onto N Woodbine Ave. Turn right onto Montgomery Ave; office will be on the right.

-Route 44 Bus via Montgomery Ave: Montgomery Ave & Brookhurst Ave Stop.

Available Training Sessions
All of the following courses are designed to be interactive. Parents and guardians may register for multiple courses at no cost.
July 17th-Effective Guided Education through Music: 6:00pm-7:00pm Presented by Dr. David Barcan
This is a course for parents and children. Over-view on how the elements of music are used in therapy & education. Parents and children will participate in sample lessons.
*Target ages 3-6 year olds
July 24th & July 31st- Using Community Resources to Improve Communication Skills : 6:00pm-7:30pm Presented by Barbara Coaxum,M.A.C.C.C.SLP & Hilary Rosenblum, M.S.CCC-SLP
This is a 2 part course that will involve parents and their children. Therapists, parents, and children will meet at local community locations I.E. park, supermarket. Parents will actively be engaged in learning how to use these community resources & locations to facilitate children’s language, social, play, and communication skills.
*Target ages 2-4 year olds
August 7th- Make Your Child Succeed: 6:00pm-7:30pm Presented by Dr. David Barcan Ideas of Paul Tough, curiosity, grit & the power of character both in & outside of the school setting.
*Target ages 5-17 year olds
August 14th- Disconnect from Social Media: 6:00pm- 7:00pm Presented by Justine Gilkin,BSSE & Adio Royster, BA
Implications of the use of handheld devices & social media on children and their families from birth through adolescence.
*Target ages 3-17 year olds.
August 21st- Seeking Supports: 6:00pm-7:00pm Presented by Dr. David Barcan
Examines the impact of crisis/trauma on the family, the ranges of responses for each member, and how & when to seek support.
*Target Ages 3-18 year olds.
August 28th- Classifying Disabilities: 6:00pm-7:30pm Presented by Dr. David Barcan & Hilary Rosenblum
Intervention on Autism, Speech, Emotional Disturbance, and a variety of other health impairments & what is the appropriate source of therapy. This course will also cover aspects of child development.
*Target Ages 3-12 year olds
September 11th- Consequences of Rewards: 6:00pm-7:30pm Presented by Dr. David Barcan
Insights from Alfie Kohn and revisiting the topics of self-esteem and how punishments, rewards, and spoiling effect the development of your child. This training will discuss how to deal with stressful parenting situations, I.E. tantrums, toilet training.
*Target ages 2-8 year olds.
September 18th- Preparing Your Intellectually Disabled Child for the Future: 6:00pm-7:30pm Presented by Karen Askew-Teel , SLP
This training will describe various employment resources for individuals with intellectual disabilities & help you prepare your child with job readiness.
*Target Ages 12-18 year olds.
