Parent Events - Week of January 25

It's that time again----here are some great events for parents and adults that don't include kids.

For moms who are currently or who are interested in breastfeeding, the North Shore La Leche League holds meetings that 4th Monday of every month, which means tonight, January 25, from 8 to 9pm. The meeting will provide education, information and support to women who want to breastfeed. Partners are also welcome to attend. Call the North Shore La Leche League at 516.744.4545 to confirm the meeting and find the exact location.

Zumba's a trend - join Coastal Sports (114 Parkway Drive South, Hauppauge) from Zumba classes every Monday (945am) & Tuesdays (noon) for a full hour. Join the Suffolk Y JCC (74 Hauppauge Road, Commack) for a one session Totsaver/CPR class tonight from 7 to 9pm.  The class will give participants the opportunity to experience a hands on training in infant and toddler CPR and relief of airway obstructions.  Admission is free but pre-registration is required.  Call 631.462.9800 to reserve your spot and for more information.

A brand new Stroller Strides location has opened on Long Island and they are hosting their first Mom's Night Out on Wednesday, January 27 from 7 to 10pm.   Mom's Night Out is a great opportunity to meet the moms in this group, experience good food, good company, good wine (and not the "whine" you are used too hearing) and most importantly LAUGHTER!!!  Admission of $18.95/person includes wine, appetizers, salad, entree, dessert and coffee.  To RSVP, contact owner Stephanie Klein at 888.451.4948 or e-mail stephanieklein@strollerstrides.net, and feel free to bring a friend.  This Mom's Night Out will be held at Fratelli Trattoria Restaurant (996 The Arches Cir Deer Park, Deer Park).  You do NOT have to be a member of Stroller Strides to attend this event, it is open to all moms.

The Lustgarten Foundation is a fantastic non-profit organization based in Bethpage that raises funds to benefit prostate cancer research.  They are holding a fun fundraising event this week on January 28 at 6pm, Communication from the Other Side, at the Cablevision Theater (1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage).  The event will consist of a light reception at 6pm, following by readings by psychic medium Josephine Ghiringhelli from 7 to 9pm. If you are going through a divorce or thinking about it, there is a free presentation happening on January 28 at 6pm.  Brought to you by Wisselman, Harounian & Associates, How to Have A Smart Divorce is a presentation followed by an open discussion and questions and answers.
