Paranormal year in review

There were so many things that happened in the paranormal community during 2012. I am a little restricted as to what content I can put out there, but definitely tried to find things going on in the Midwest to let readers know about.

When I started writing these articles I focused on haunted locations in Indiana and the surrounding states. I was also trying to write about all of the paranormal groups in Indiana. There have been many new groups pop up over the past year. There have been a lot of groups that just dropped off the planet.

How many paranormal shows started up in 2012? Quite a few actually.

  • Beyond Belief
  • School Spirits
  • Paranormal Highway
  • Ghost Mine
  • Chasing UFOs
  • Conspiracy Road Trip
  • Professor Weird
  • Paranormal Paparazzi
  • Cursed
  • UFOs: The Untold Stories
  • Haunted Encounters: Face to Face

We still have all of our favorite paranormal TV shows like Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, and Ghost Hunters International. Ghost Adventures came to Indiana and investigated Black Moon Manor. Several months later Black Moon Manor was torn down. It is a shame that the place couldn't have been saved in some way. There is a lot of disagreements about whether the place was actually haunted. There was also controversy between the owner and the leasee, Matt Speck.

Tony Abney lost the Owen County Home this past November. Tony had done an extremely good job keep the place going for investigators and groups to come in. I think there were even a few films done on location at the home.

There were quite a few paranormal conventions here in Indiana in 2012. Paranormal Fest had several in different cities. Mid-South paranormal convention was in Kentucky, as it is every year. Ghost Hunt Weekends put on some amazing events over 2012 as well. There was an open house at The Roads Hotel. There was a convention at the Poasttown Elementary School in Ohio. Willow's Weep had their 2nd annual meet and greet. The paranormal meet and greet at the Historic Hannah House was a huge success as always.

A paranormal case was also heard on "People's Court". There have been a few things in the news paranormal related. I read about paranormal investigators being arrested for trespassing and some other pretty crazy things.

I have written about many paranormal groups in 2012. I am glad to see most of them are still around. I am also glad to see this community being taken a little more serious. I have written a few articles about paranormal unity. There are definitely two sides to this. I have written articles about "certification" too. There are so many topics that get me worked up. The only way I vent is to write about it.

I had some pretty cool interviews with some cool people in the paranormal community. I had an in-depth interview with Christopher Saint Booth of the Booth Brothers. I had the pleasure of seeing them on several occasions in 2012. I absolutely love them. They are the best guys! I interviewed Robb Demarest, Scotty Rorek, and Scott Tepperman.

2012 was a really fun year as far as the paranormal was concerned. I hope that 2013 is much better. I hope to attend many more events and meet many more people!
