Paranormal groups must know their limitations

This is something that is as diverse amongst active groups as there are number of active groups. Some claim to be demonologist while others claim to be psychic investigators. Specialties within the paranormal are akin to which field of medicine you want to study. Well maybe not quite that diverse, but there are certain “branches” within the paranormal community.

What does this mean? If you are a potential client of a paranormal group that is searching for some help on the internet, you can easily be drawn into a group or philosophy that may not be what you need or what you are looking for. Stated in the doctor analogy, you will not go to a brain surgeon for chest congestion. You don’t need that level of exposure.

If you are having any paranormal activity in your home or business look for a reputable group in your area. Check references if they will make them available. One minor thing to look for that I believe is currently over looked by many groups; will they refer you to another organization if they cannot help you?

There are the normal hauntings out there that most groups deal with very well. Then there are those that are escalated and could be something more than just angry Uncle Walter. If a group is in your home and they don’t understand how to handle that situation, they will put you and your family in a dangerous situation. Every group out there must know their own limitations and know who they can get when those limitations have been reached.

I agree. Some many times groups just go into homes and really don't have the clients best interest at heart. They are more or less out for the experience first and helping the client second. This is not fair to the client at all. Especially if they are in need of real help or want real answers. I think the best way to avoid this would be research research research ;)

I agree with your article. A group must know whats best not only for their clients but their group as well. If they don't now what they are doing, reach out and ask for help. I have worked with too many that have left a client feeling terrified, making the situation worse. Research. Educate. Network. Ask for help. Do not plunge into a field you have no idea about. What may be "fun" for you could turn out to be a catastrophe not only for your group but client as well.

I agree. I would also like to encourage everyone to exercise discernment and intuition at all times. Anyone can call themselves any title in the paranormal arena, considering there truly is not a governing body to ensure people are authentic and gifted to engage de-possession, space clearing, spirit detachment or what is called "ghost busting". How does anyone really know if the person we approach for such service is sensitive to the spirit world, and competent to usher energies to where they need to go and seal the portal(s)? For all we know, they might just have very active imagination, read a few books on the topic, and able to spew terminologies unfamiliar to the mainstream world whether or not they are strung coherently. It helps to be well read on the subject to ward off scammers.
