Paranormal documentary review 'Chasing the Shadows'

Do you believe in ghosts? If you're reading this column you are probably at least interested in the paranormal.

Documentary filmmaker Tim Schultz spent 4 years researching ghosts.

Perhaps not a believer, but certainly not a skeptic, (4 years of researching and filming),
Tim set out to gather information about the paranormal and ended up experiencing much more.

His documentary is full of colorful people (the paranormal attracts all kinds) who believe without a doubt that ghosts exist. These people believe you can make contact with them and they with you.

Tim travels to many places that are notoriously haunted. The Stanley Hotel should need no introduction, neither should the Mrytles Plantation. At each location, from the US, to Italy and then to Africa, Tim learns a little bit about 'the other world'.

Some of the people interviewed are; psychics, tarot reading wizards, paranormal investigators, skeptics and scientists. Each person adds a little more to the education that Tim is receiving.  Each place visited gives him some bumps in the night, an EVP or a shadow to contemplate.

Joining several ghost hunts, Tim meets another person who is also looking for the truth. A young woman that befriends Tim and seems to become a part of his life. This wasn't a romantic situation (as far as the film reveals) but a friendship.

As Tim is expecting this woman to visit him at his home in Colorado from California, he finds out she has committed suicide. This horrible news throws the film onto a different road.

Can Tim contact his friend on the other side? The ultimate question that everyone in Tim's situation asks is...could I have helped this person. Tim gets his answers near the end of the film. Whether he believes them or not is something else.

At only 54 minutes long, I felt like I wanted about another hour of Tim's film.

That's the only flaw I see in this film. The film is short...I also would love to give Tim a hug......and tell him everyone makes their own choices. To live or die, to believe or not.

This film is reasonably priced at just under $13.00, get it here.
