Paramount has released the first trailer for "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones," and it is a bit of a change from the previous two entries in the franchise. WebProNews revealed that the new trailer hit the net on Oct. 18, 2013, and that is kind of ironic considering this will be the fifth film in the franchise, but the first to be released outside of October.
This new film ventures back to the shaky-cam version of the first couple of movies in the group, and Paramount appears to be selling the horror big-time here.
"Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" focuses on a character by the name of Jesse, played by Andrew Jacobs. Jesse is labeled as "marked" and he begins to go after the dark forces that appear to have come about while his family and friends attempt to save him.
Jesse and some friends actually break into the home of a recently deceased woman to record their findings. Included in those findings are VHS tapes marked "Katie and Kristi" (girls from previous "Paranormal Activity" films) along with photographs of Jesse himself.
"Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" opens on Jan. 3, 2014, and stars Andrew Jacobs, Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, Eddie J. Fernandez, Jorge Diaz, David Fernandez Jr., Kimberly Ables Jindra, Tonja Kahlens, and Frank Salinas.
Believe it or not, this may be the fifth film in the series, but it isn't "Paranormal Activity 5." That film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 25, 2014.
