Paper punch heart bookmark using recycled catalogs and paper (Photos)

Clothing catalogs that come in the mail can be a good resource for paper with color and textural designs. Recycle the pages into a stacked heart bookmark by using a heart shaped paper punch. For the base of the bookmark, use the white glossy card stock divider that comes in boxed teas. They are the perfect size. However, any card stock or even a recycled cereal box will do. Video is provided at the end of instructions for the close up step-by-step photos.

Materials:

Recycled clothing catalog

Recycled tea box teabag divider or any card stock or thin cardboard cut into a 6 ½ inch x 1 ½ inch rectangle

1 ½ inch heart punch

¼ inch hole punch

Glue stick

Scissors

Thin ribbon or other fiber

Directions:

Pick a color theme, such as reds, purples or rainbow. Using the heart punch, select color swatch from catalog page, and punch out a heart. Do this six times using different shades and textures of the color theme. Lay out the hearts in a vertical line, overlapping and arranging them in a pleasing manner. Using the glue stick, adhere them to the card stock. Using the glue stick container as a roller, press heart images firmly onto the card stock. With scissors, cut around the hearts to remove any visible card stock. This will shape the bookmark. With a ¼ inch hole punch, make a hole about a ½ inch from the bottom. Cut a 12 inch piece of ribbon or fiber. Make a slip knot through the hole and tighten. Bookmark is complete.
