While taking pictures of Justin Bieber’s Ferrari, a paparazzo was hit by a car Tuesday night. The man was transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles where he was pronounced dead.
According to Los Angeles Police spokesman James Stoughton, Justin Bieber had been pulled over for a traffic violation by the California Highway Patrol. At the time the photos were taken, Bieber was not in his gorgeous white Ferrari.
Sgt. Rudy Lopez was speaking with the driver of the Ferrari and the paparazzo, Chris Guerra was trying to get pictures of the situation. Sgt. Lopez told the LA Times KTLA that he ordered Guerra to return to his car not once but twice.
When Guerra, a freelance photographer finally started walking towards his car, he was struck by an oncoming car. St. Lopez also stated that the driver of the car that struck Guerra will probably not face any criminal charges.
Bieber, 18, issued a statement regarding the death. “While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim. Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.”
