Paparazzi photographer killed in pursuit of Justin Bieber photos (Video)

A paparazzi photographer was killed trying to get a photo of Justin Bieber on New Year’s Day. According to a Jan. 2 CNN report, the photographer cross a busy Los Angeles highway on foot in attempt to get a photo of Bieber in his white Ferrari. The photographer was hit by another vehicle as he was walking back to his own car after taking photos.

Justin’s vehicle had been pulled over by the highway patrol at the time the photographer approached. Justin wasn’t in the car. The photographer took photos of the occupants, despite being told twice by officers to back off.

A city councilman predicted a tragedy would occur after Justin and paparazzi engaged in a high-speed chase in July. The councilman witnessed the chase and alerted highway patrol, fearing a deadly crash was about to happen. Bieber was ticketed for speeding and the paparazzo was charged with reckless driving.

Justin has also been accused of harassing and assaulting paparazzi. Bieber is amongst many celebrities who have been very public in their distaste for the invasive photographers.

The name of the paparazzi member killed on Jan. 1 has not been released yet.

Justin Bieber released the following statement,

"While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim. Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves."
