Usually when people think about rockstars, hunger and poverty might not come to mind. The guys of Papa Roach are an exception.
Lead singer Jacoby Dakota Shaddix and bassist Tobin Esperance were up early this morning in East Harlem, helping out at the Yorkville Common Pantry (YCP).
Shaddix and Esperance were at the Yorkville Common Pantry as part of Artists Against Hunger & Poverty which is just a small part of the non profit organization WhyHunger.
Papa Roach works closely with WhyHunger, and does their best by volunteering when they’re on the road at various pantries all across the U.S. They also encourage their fans to make donations when buying a ticket to their concert.
Poverty and hunger are close to lead singer Shaddix heart because during his childhood was homeless and he has experienced poverty first hand at a young age.
The Yorkville Common Pantry is the largest community-based food pantry in New York City. Between 1600 and 1800 families are served grocery packages by YCP every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
